Crying

Picture from : anymoments.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

You know, I thought the time when you want to cry the most is the time when you need to work the hardest.
So, I decided to cry daily, to let it drop; the tears that I will shred when I most want to.
So that my tears would be dry when I need to work the hardest.

From Baccano episode 13

I found this line quite impressive. But please don't miss-understand. I am not in love of crying or any sort of it. It is just really smart of him if he really is capable of controlling his tears or emotions, just like a faucet. It probably is a way of self-controlling. Which I have never heard of. Since I always thought self-controlling as hiding your emotions.
Well, as I was reading the part of holding the tears and let it go another time, it reminded me of this story that I don’t remember what it was about nor the title. The only thing I remember is about this girl talking about a boy that is matured and calmed. One day she asked him, “Why are you so quiet?” or something similar to it. And the boy answered, “Because I am saving my energy for later on in my life.” So the girl thought, “But you can’t do that. The energy you have, let’s say, when you are 8 years old, is only useful when you are 8 years old. It’s not something that you can preserve. It’s like food. Eating a lot at breakfast doesn’t keep you well fed and active for the rest of the day. Unless you eat lunch or dinner."
I agree with this girl from this random story. So, as you can see, I personally don’t believe what the quote is saying about saving tears for later on but I like the idea of controling emotions.

One more last thing I want to say about this quote is one of the reasons why I liked the idea of this line. It is because I once heard that one of the most important skills to live successfully is the ability of letting your negative feelings and frustrations out. Just like a balloon. Never blow it too hard and let your self explode. And I guess this thing about the tears can be one of the ways to release air from you own balloon.

I want to share this story that reminded me of this quote from Rousseau.

It’s about this boy called “Hagi” that lives in a society in which has a strict social class.
He is the one of the families from the lowest social class called “Kusagi”.
So…I guess I will begin telling part of the story.

………

“Yes, we are Kusagi. But does that mean starving is something that cannot be helped since we are Kusagi? Does that mean not being able to drink a medicine when dying because of a disease; is something we just need to accept? We, the Kusagi, live just like the others in the upper class.”

“Hagi…you…….
Stop it. Don’t you dare say that again. We are Kusagi. We just needs to accept and follow the destiny of Kusagi.”

………

I think this story really represents the quote “Man are born free, but society corrupts man,” by Rousseau. Why? Because the characters in this story are tangled up with rules and social classes. They are limiting their abilities and way of life in order to survive in the community. I wish that there was a way for all the people to live proud and joyful about their life.
But anyways, about the society corrupting human souls, I think I have seen the effect during the trip to the amazons. Several of the people became more positive and less affected by the peer pressure from society. And, I was one of them. I think I was able to become more opened and active.

Life.....

" 'Life is fun' say that ten thousand times a day.

Your head will go crazy and you would forget about all the pain!!"

From Baccano! episode 14

There are times that you are tired, bored. You do nothing but stare out and make your mind go blank. That when I repeat this quote over and over in my head: “Life is fun…etc.” It makes you laugh and feel better.
I’ve heard many times that “there is no useless time in your life.” Probably that’s true. Probably it is something said from experience. But this doesn’t help my boredom go away. And whatever meaning this time will have in the future, I want to have fun, if possible, all the time. I just can’t stand doing nothing because I have no more option.

about...memories??

Yesterday, I just remembered this conversation from a book that is about a couple. Let’s suppose the boy is B and the girl is G. The talk starts with the girl, G, saying,

G: “Let’s go to every event this summer, and make many many memories.”

B: “……I don’t like the word ‘memory’.”

G: “Why not?”

B: “Because……..Do you remember that story we read in school?”

G: “Which one?”

B: “The one of ‘What was the Color of the Dress of that Girl?’”

G: “Mmm…..No…..I don’t remember.”

B: “It’s about this two girls, …lets call them A and B, talking about their childhood.
And they ended up talking about this drawing exhibited in the hallway of their school.
A drawing of a girl picking up flower behind a red sun set…..

Are you sure you don’t remember?”

G: “No…..I have no idea which story you are talking about.”

B: “Well….the story goes on…..
And girl A says, ‘Oh yes, that drawing of a girl with a yellow dress?’
But then girl B says ‘No, the girl had a dress dyed with the color red of the sun set.’
Girl A says, ‘No way! The dress was shining in the sun set, bright yellow!’
Both of them didn’t give in their opinion; Yellow! Red! Yellow! Red!.

So they decided to go visit the school.

‘What would the color be?’”

G: “What color was it????”

B: “There was no color. It was a black and white drawing.
The dress was colored in black.
But the two girls, A and B, believed there was a color to that dress.”

“Can you see how inaccurate the memory’s of a man can be?
Putting colors to something blank, dramatizing, beautifying.
Giving something more than reality.”

“That’s why I don’t believe in ‘beautiful memories’”

G: “Then what do you believe in?”

B: “You!! The ‘you’ standing in front of me right now.”

From "We were there" 4th volume.

When I first read this comic book, I was shocked. I mean I have never thought of memories in such a way. I always thought memories as a precious collection of jewelries or something. It was the only thing where you can use the term “forever” since for sure past will not change ever. Before reading this, I wanted memories. Small pebbles that I will be collecting to decorate the white and wide paper I have. Probably, the fact that I move every three years made me be more intense about obtaining evidences that shows I once existed in that place. But now I am not as confident as before about wanting memories.

"No one needs to say sorry.

Each of you just tried to protect what you wanted to protect.

.....it's simple as that."

From Gintama (銀魂) 15th volume

Just imagine, after a fight, someone says this to you.

I would feel so relieved as if all the weight on top of me has been pushed aside.

And a fight that no one is actually bad is actually something quite common: A fight

or problem that when you notice you are involving the people around you.

But I think it is a really hard thing to do. I would want to be able to have such a

big heart some day.

mmm..about attitudes...

"Your self-sacrificing is after all one of your self-satisfactions."

From : Pandora Hearts episode 18.

This line was directed towards the main character by this secondary character that didn’t know anything about the main character’s struggle, past nor belief. It was just after an event in which the main character tried to give away his life for his sister. And I think these lacks of information about the main character enable the secondary character to say his line without hesitate.

Anyways, my interpretation of this line is "take more care about yourself because there're people that love you and that need you." I was impressed to hear this line because it overlapped with my opinion about “heroes” that only look at their fames after all.
